2017 Alberta Hunter Education Association banquet
/We got the chance to donate a full day of fishing on the North Saskatchewan River to the Alberta Hunter Education Association.
The winner of the live auction trip was Hugh Ziprick of Vegreville, Alberta! We will be hitting the North Saskatchewan River for a full day of action packed adventure! With high hopes of landing a trophy lake sturgeon!
Hip Hot Spots!
/We were super excited to have Outdoor Canada Magazine tag Lunker’s Fishing Adventures in there March issue. The North Saskatchewan River landed number seven of thirty one fishing destinations across Canada!
With Spring not to far off we are getting rigged up for the up and coming fishing season! Sharping up our hook's for three days of filming with the the Wild West Fishing Show, with host Wes David. We will be targeting multi species of fish in the North Saskatchewan River.
Young Guns!
/The young guys were on fire today! My son and his buddy had big hopes of hooking a monster Jack, we were running 12 inch bait fish to lure the big ole donkeys in, but we couldn't capitalize today. We had one break us off at the hole but that's fishing!
With the hard water season coming close to an end, this is the time of the year when the big girls come out to play! Hoping to get out with the family to tie into some big ole Jackie girls before the open water season.
Tips on ice fishing with new, or young anglers
/Winter ice fishing is a great way to introduce new anglers and kids to fishing. Take them to a lake with plenty of fish. You don't need trophy sized fish, but a lot of small fish to keep the interest level on the high side.
Run tip up's, they add action to fishing, the flag goes up and the foot race is on.
Try to pick a day with warm weather, a cold windy day on the ice isn't going to help you to get them back out again anytime soon!
Bring the BBQ and lots of snacks. Kids get bored easily, when the bite is slow fire up the grill. Murphy's law kicks in at this point and the fish will be hitting hard as soon as ones attention is on something other than catching fish!
Ice fishing for jackfish is a great way to teach proper handling and the release, as jacks are hardy fish. So one can take more time explaining the in's and outs of hook removal. Remember to have a camera ready for a picture before the fish is out of the water.
The last thing is to keep it fun!
Ice Fishing Safety
/When venturing out on the ice this winter, keep safety as a number one priority. Always pack extra clothes in the event you may get stuck. Let people know where you are going if venturing out by yourself. If you're heading into an area with no cell service, take extra precautions. Play safe out there this winter and keep your hooks sharp!

Ice fishing season is here!
/The open season is done for the year. We are excited to get out on the hard water for some ice fishing!
We spend a lot of time fishing Wabamun Lake for big ole jackfish. Ice fishing for these big old gators is exciting and action packed!
Get the whole family out for a day on the hard water. Ice fishing is an inexpensive way to get everyone out fishing. The Edmonton area offers plenty of fantastic fishing in the winter months.
